Streatham stained glass restoration
The main door panel, which incorporates 5 quite heavy, high relief moulded glass pieces, had been previously restored, but had become loose and had a lot of movement when the door was closed. The narrow reeded glass, which is a feature of these panels, had in parts been replace by a wider (12mm) reed, which detracted from the appearance. We removed the panel and boarded over the opening. The panel was taken apart and the glass washed, and the wider reeded pieces re-cut from our (ever diminishing) stock of old and salvaged narrow reed. The panel was fitted with 3 horizontal support bars.
